The Fall Guy

May 24-27 (at least) | Friday-Monday | 2 hours, 6 minutes | Rated PG-13 |

action and violence, drug content, and some strong language

From the first moment I saw the trailer for this movie, I knew we had to show it. Not only is it two amazingly-charismatic leads (Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt) in a spicy, flirty, fighty romantic comedy, but it’s an action movie sending up action movies, about a stunt guy directed by a former stunt guy. It’s a pure popcorn movie with an actual heart, alternatively funny, sweet, and exciting — and sometimes all at once. It’s the kind of movie that has something for nearly everyone. I can’t do any better job at selling it than the reviews can:

“The movie is made to entertain: It’s got karaoke, charismatic stars, cars rolling in the air and a winky, devil-may-care attitude. It’s mainstream action-comedy-romance mayhem with extra sizzle.” – Thelma Adams, AARP Movies for Grownups
“It is pure popcorn pleasure and I cannot wait to see it again.” -Nell Minow, Movie Mom
“Ryan Gosling—he and Emily Blunt are romcom hotties to die for— knocks it out of the park in this insanely entertaining love letter to Hollywood’s unsung action heroes—stunt performers. Listen up, academy: an Oscar category for stunts is way overdue.” -Peter Travers, ABC News
The Fall Guy – a joyful gong announcing the summer movie season’s arrival – still delivers jokes, but this one’s all heart.” -Kimberly Jones, Austin Chronicle
“A gloriously fun, screwball action film that pokes fun at action films and this, I now know, is my favourite kind of action film.” – Deborah Ross, The Spectator
“This movie is a lot of things — all of them incredibly fun and enjoyable — but at its heart, it’s a joyous return to form for the romantic comedy. Welcome back.” -Odie Henderson, Boston Globe
“With some incredible stunts and Gosling and Blunt on top form, this gloriously entertaining comedy is a love-letter to the unsung heroes of cinema.” -Kelechi Ehenulo, Empire Magazine
“With the self-referential humor, the industry jokes and the promise of a little romance, it feels like one of those movies we all complain they don’t make anymore.” -Lindsay Bahr, Associated Press
“This is a ridiculously fun movie, anchored by a movie star in a part that fits him perfectly and a director who really has been working toward this film for his entire career.” -Brian Tallerico, RogerEbert.com
“And then Gosling and Blunt start flirting and fighting and verbally feinting with each other, and you feel like you’re floating an inch above your seat.” -David Fear, Rolling Stone
“I truly had a massive grin on my face from start to finish watching The Fall Guy. It’s an extremely well-crafted action movie that’s absolutely buzzing with energy and charm for all 125 minutes of its running time.” -Perri Nemiroff, Collider
The Fall Guy is funny, it’s sexy, and it features the boy-toy version of Barbie scene-stealer Ryan Gosling — which is to say, this time around, he embodies the ultimate action figure.” -Peter Debruge, Variety
“Maybe the most surprising thing about The Fall Guy is how genuinely romantic it is.” -Bilge Ebiri, New York Magazine/Vulture
“It has that rare quality in a big-studio film: a sense of fun.” -Moira MacDonald, Seattle Times

The Fall Guy opens at The Clyde Friday, May 24, and plays Friday-Monday at 7:30 for at least one week.
