Project Hail Mary

March 20-23 & 27-30 | Friday-Monday for two weeks | 2 hours, 36 minutes | Rated PG-13 |

some thematic material and suggestive references

From Andy Weir, the writer of The Martian, this film throws a little more “fiction” into its “science fiction,” but still keeps plenty of “science along for the ride too. Ryan Gosling plays a junior high school teacher who wakes up on a spaceship rapidly leaving the solar system and with no memory of how he got there. He has to use his wits and everything around him to survive and stand a chance of saving the Earth from our sun being extinguished. There will be lots of MacGuyvering and cleverness, some good quippy lines, and maybe even an alien.

“This is for the most part an absolute space-smash: stupidly entertaining stuff about seriously clever speculative concepts. Hail, Mary!” -John Nugent, Empire Magazine

“With Gosling and Hüller to the fore, Lord and Miller have delivered a cosmic adventure with hope in its heart and a twinkle in its eye. It’s the science-fiction blockbuster we need in these fractious times.” -Philip De Semlyen, Time Out
“With a leading man, Ryan Gosling, who can’t resist showing off his goofball charm and all-round Kenergy, Project Hail Mary is surprisingly shiny and fun for a story about the potential extinction of the human race.” -Nicholas Barber, BBC.com
“Even with intimate knowledge of the book, Lord and Miller’s imagining will have you holding your breath, shedding tears, and sighing with relief.” -Billie Melissa, Newsweek
Project Hail Mary is a triumphant science fiction adventure. It manages to be smart without alienating those less au fait with the science, and heartfelt without falling into the overly sentimental.” -Linda Marric, Hey U Guys
Project Hail Mary is one of those old-school popcorn movies with big ideas, the kind of film that Steven Spielberg and George Lucas would have made back in the day and kids of all ages would have obsessed over and bought the toys.” -Brian Truitt, USA Today

I just finished listening to the Audible Book version and loved it. I knew the movie was coming soon and wondered many times how the scenes would translate into cinema. There are three trailers now available and I am delighted by glimpses of how the story is brought to life. Looking forward to the whole show.
