The Farewell

September 10, 11 & 12 | Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday | 1 hour, 40 minutes | Rated PG-13 |

thematic material, brief language and some smoking

This film follows a young Chinese-American woman (Awkwafina in another fantastic performance) traveling to China to attend a fake family wedding put on to bring the family together one last time before her grandmother succumbs to terminal cancer. And why the fake wedding? Because the family has decided not to tell their grandmother that she’s dying. It’s a comedy-drama that mixes humor, compassion, and an ending that leaves you feeling uplifted. Director Lulu Wang makes the implausible premise and the fish-out-of-water story feel eminently relatable. Currently rated 99% Fresh by Rotten Tomatoes.

The Farewell opens Tuesday, September 10, and plays at 7:30 Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.
