Michael’s nephew Jaafar Jackson stars as the King of Pop in this tremendous biopic from director Antoine Fuqua. It has fantastic, splashy musical numbers, some insight into Michael’s life first as a member of the Jackson 5 and then in his solo work, and if it never really goes deep into details or nuance… does it really need to? It’s gorgeous, and Jaafar does an absolutely spectacular job of bringing Michael to the big screen. Critics have complained about those lack of details, but audiences don’t seem to care, giving it a 97% Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes.
We’re still working out the final timeline for our upcoming films, but Michael will probably open at The Clyde on Friday, May 15, and play Friday, Saturday, Sunday, & Monday at 7:30.
