If you remember He-Man from the 1980s, this movie is for you. If you like whacky space action like the first Guardians of the Galaxy, this movie is for you. If you’re looking for a fun and mindless summer movie, this movie is for you. It has a great cast (Nicholas Galitzine from Sheep Detectives, Camila Mendes, Alison Brie, Idris Elba, Jared Leto, and Morena Baccarin among others) having a heck of a lot of fun with a colorful and bright story about becoming who you were always meant to be (and fighting against a skeleton-faced baddie and his collection of henchmen who would be at home in a Dick Tracy script). It has a an 87% Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes, and a simple set of instructions: show up, disconnect brain, enjoy.

Masters of the Universe succeeds by doing something refreshingly straightforward: telling a rousing fantasy adventure with conviction, humor and heart.” -Zaki Hassan, San Francisco Chronicle
“Though the script isn’t in the same league as the Barbie movie, it’s kind of like the male equivalent — providing a heartfelt and timely antidote to the toxicity of the manosphere.” -Larushka Ivan-Zadeh, Time Out
“Galitzine, who recently amused in The Sheep Detectives, wears the character’s mild goofiness loosely, the better to shake it off when the impressive action sequences start. In these raucous but bloodless scenes, he’s all business, and he delivers.” -Glenn Kenny, New York Times
“Its colors, vivacity, humor, and heart makes it better than anticipated. It’s weird in some truly unexpected ways, and Nicholas Galitzine is a charmer.” -Kristen Lopez, The Film Maven
Masters of the Universe is fun, colourful, energetic, and entirely comfortable with its own identity. This is the rare franchise revival that remembers why people fell in love with it in the first place.” -Linda Marric, Hey U Guys
“One only wishes they might have pushed the camp factor further, as it feels a bit restrained at times. However, it’s Galitzine’s performance that will win you over — he’s truly got the power.” -Katie Walsh, Tribune News Service
“No, this decidedly summer flick, directed by Travis Knight, was made solely for your amusement. It’s fun, helium light and doesn’t have a single thought in its dumb head.” -Johnny Oleksinksi, New York Post
“There’s enough infectious energy and heart to give this sugar-bombed throwback a mainstream appeal more sizable than Galitzine’s impressive deltoids.” -Brian Truitt, USA Today
