Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

April 26-29 | Friday-Monday | 1 hour, 55 minutes | Rated PG-13 |

supernatural action/violence, language, and suggestive references.

The new crew from Ghostbusters: Afterlife reunites with the originals for an adventure in New York as a sinister, supernatural force of fear threatens the Big Apple with a new ice age. It’s not a new formula, but it’s a fun one, and one that serves Ghostbusters films well. So many of the old favorites are back (including William Atherton as Walter Peck, new the mayor of New York and just as anti-Ghostbusters as ever), and the movie goes out of its way to give them their due while also enjoying the newcomers (Paul Rudd, Mckenna Grace, Kumail Nanjiani, and Patton Oswalt in particular).

“It’s tough to balance the casual vibe required for comedy to work with the effortfulness of huge special effects, but Frozen Empire pulls it off.” -Chris Hewitt, Minneapolis Star Tribune
Frozen Empire is an eclectic, enjoyable barrage of nonsense — a circus act that kicks off with a Robert Frost poem and climaxes with Ray Parker Jr.’s titular synth banger.” -Amy Nicholson, New York Times
“Much better than the wobbly reboot, with plenty to delight both long-time fans and newcomers.” -Nell Minow, Movie Mom
“With its blend of supernatural spectacle, engaging characters, and a touch of nostalgia, it’s a worthy addition to the Ghostbusters legacy. So, grab your proton pack and prepare for a thrilling adventure that’s sure to leave you frozen in awe.” -Linda Marric, HeyUGuys
Frozen Empire is a notable improvement on Afterlife – funny, silly, and a little scary, with its pockets full of hand-built doodahs and the occasional excursion into the realm of pseudo-mythology and parapsychology.” -Clarisse Loughrey, Independent (UK)
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire doesn’t mess with the well-honed formula, carefully balancing its laughs and scares in the breezy manner that makes for pleasurable, if lightweight, viewing.” -Frank Scheck, Hollywood Reporter
“[C]arries the same endearingly goofy, science-nerd spirit of the first film and delivers a delightful balance of slimy ghost stuff, sharp one-liners, terrific VFX and a steady stream of callbacks to various characters, human and otherwise, from the 1984 movie” -Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire opens at The Clyde on Friday, April 26, and plays at 7:30 on Friday, Saturday, & Monday, and at 2:00 on Sunday (or last Sunday matinee until Fall).
