Gideon Freudmann will be at The Clyde on Saturday, May 21 to provide live cello accompaniment to the Buster Keaton classic Sherlock Jr. The show will start at 2:00pm, and the box office will open at 1:30.
In Sherlock Jr, Buster Keaton is a movie projectionist with aspirations to be a great detective. This brilliant film-within-a-film is clever, funny and way ahead of it’s time. Keaton’s antics and genius are on full display in this delightful 1924 classic.
Gideon Freudmann’s original scores for silent films incorporate classical, jazz, folk, and world music elements. Working with a cello and real-time electronic effects he creates elaborate sound textures, haunting melodies and driving rhythms that beautifully enhance and energize the imagery of silent films.
