Edited, written, and directed by South Whidbey’s own Jordan Albertsen, this loving documentary follows the rise, fall, and resurrection of The Sonics — not the basketball team, but the Northwest’s premiere punk band. Featuring concert footage from their original shows and their revival tour, along with interviews with the members of the band and the host of musicians who were influenced by the ’60s punk rockers (including Pearl Jam, The Sex Pistols, Heart, Mudhoney, and more), its a high-energy documentary with great focus and care. It’s been an official selection at nine film festivals from Tacoma to Melbourne.
Jordan will be on-hand as part of our Films & Filmmakers series to talk about the process of making the film, getting it to festivals, and now getting it to wide release.
Boom! A Film About the Sonics shows at The Clyde Thursday, September 26, at 7:30.
