We’ve been following along the Crawley family and their whole household for decades now, and this is the big finale to send them off into the world. As the family steps out of the ’20s and into the ’30s amidst scandal and financial hardship, they have to pull together, nobles and servants alike, and embrace change to get through it all. When you’ve become as attached to a family as we all have to the Crawleys, it can be bittersweet to see their story come to an end, but by all accounts, this one is going off on the right notes.
“This is about as graceful and fitting an endnote as you could hope for.” -Clarisse Loughrey, Independent (UK)
“Basically one giant victory lap that takes the Crawley family and their employees into 1930 and beyond — as Cole Porter once wrote, ‘it’s fun/it’s fresh/it’s post-/depresh.'” -Alonso Duralde, The Film Verdict
“Fellowes & Curtis have gifted audiences with a trilogy closer that’s worth coming back for as it brings satisfying closure to world and hits about every emotional note a fan could hope for in seeing these characters off to their imagined futures.” -Tara Bennett, Tellyvisions
“A breezy, witty and sparkling drama with a terrific ensemble cast. Michelle Dockery gives a moving, nuanced and Oscar-worthy performance.” -Avi Ofer, NYC Movie Guru
“It’s finally time to say goodbye to the Crawleys, and Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is the exact kind of sendoff fans are looking for.” -Rachel LaBonte, Screen Rant
“An elegant farewell.” -Frank Scheck, The Hollywood Reporter
