A Minecraft Movie

Probably April 25-28 | Friday-Monday | 1 hour, 41 minutes | Rated PG |

violence/action, language, suggestive/rude humor, and some scary images

Jason Momoa gets to stretch his comedic wings in this delightfully-bonkers video game movie about a world where creativity is key. Five humans are drawn into the Overworld, a blocky land where they can build anything. There, they must defend the villagers from aggressively uncreative Piglins looking to find a powerful orb to rule the Overworld with. It’s a fantastic opportunity to put your brain on pause and enjoy some colorful, family-friendly action-adventure-comedy. The film currently has an 87% Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes.

“It feels like a small miracle that the resulting film is so funny, lively, and light on its feet.” -Bilge Ebiri, New York Magazine/Vulture
“Mr. Hess and his five screenwriters have mined childhood to craft something that’s alive with imagination. It’s not the most polished movie you’ll see this year, but it’s as cheerfully mad as a little kid’s birthday party. We could use more of that.” -Kyle Smith, Wall Street Journal
“its sheer sense of fun make it an easy win for families looking for something to watch during the holidays.” -Linda Marric, The Sun (UK)”
“The biggest surprise is that “A Minecraft Movie” ends up feeling more necessary in an era of depreciating art appreciation.” -Gene Park, Washington Post
“Th[e] loosey-goosey attitude, an “open sandbox” if you will, is a breath of fresh air after so many family films that seem preordained by lore.” -Jordan Hoffman, Entertainment Weekly

Look, this isn’t a movie for the critics, but as you can tell from the reviews of some of the ones who could just let loose and enjoy things, it’s a movie for people who want to have some uncomplicated fun, so come on down!

A Minecraft Movie will probably open at The Clyde on Friday, April 25, and play Friday, Saturday, Sunday, & Monday at 7:30.
