Kate Winslet has a tour-de-force performance as Lee Miller that’s causing a whole lot of Oscar buzz. The film follows Winslet’s Miller through her time as a model and into becoming first a photojournalist, and then one of the most respected and well-known faces and perspectives on World War Two. Based on the biography by Miller’s own son, it barely scratches the surface of what made her amazing, but what it does cover, it covers beautifully. Winslet believed so much in the project that she invested her own money in it, and her passion shows through. It currently has a 94% Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Enough cannot be said about the film or Kate Winslet—irritating, admirable, challenging, sometimes unlikeable, always heroic—as she elevates the complex personality conflicts of Lee Miller into a cohesive, resplendent, three-dimensional whole.” -Rex Reed, Observer
“This is a penetrating biopic, and while it may take a familiar shape, the pioneering woman at the center was anything but traditional.” -Katie Walsh, Tribune News Service
“Winslet’s performance demands that we consider the force behind the camera.” -Lisa Kennedy, New York Times
“Lee certainly celebrates Miller as a difficult woman – one who energetically defies every feminine-propriety rule of the age and more.” -Robbie Collin, Daily Telegraph (UK)
“A satisfyingly textured portrait of a remarkable and unusual woman, who had an almost Zelig-like gift for bearing witness to key moments in history.” -Wendy Ide, Screen International
“Lee is a handsomely made, moving biopic of a subject who deserves to be honoured — with stellar chemistry and performances from Kate Winslet and Andy Samberg.” -Sophie Butcher, Empire Magazine
“As an argument for how urgent and powerful photography can be, and the debt we owe Miller for the lengths she went to take those images, Lee wins hands down.” -Alex Sims, Time Out
“Kate Winslet fills the part near to bursting as a beautiful iconoclast who found her vocation behind a Rolleiflex.” -Thelma Adams, AARP Movies for Grownups

Lee will open at The Clyde Friday, October 25, and will play Friday, Saturday, Sunday, & Monday at 7:30.
