The Florida Project

December 12, 13 & 14 | Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday | 1 hour, 51 minutes | Rated R |

language throughout, disturbing behavior, sexual references, and some drug material

Our first Take-a-Chance movie in a while, The Florida Project is a beautiful, empathetic look at how the world of children can be full of wonder and delight even while the adults around them struggle with the realities of the world. Single mother Halley (Bria Vanaite) and her daughter Monee (Brooklynn Prince) may be living in poverty at a hotel owned by Bobby (Willem Defoe), but for Monee and her friends, the world is a wondrous place of fantasy and imagination. This is a film that lives in the little interpersonal and subtle details that most blockbusters miss, but make the people around us real. It’s beautiful, it’s heartbreaking, and it’s amazing. Rotten Tomatoes currently rates it 95% Fresh.

The Florida Project opens Tuesday, December 12, and plays Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday at 7:30.
