August 20, 21 & 22 | Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday | 1 hour, 28 minutes | Rated R |
A smart, barbed comedy about two women who get an inheritance — an antique sword that “proves” the South won the Civil War — and the two pawn shop workers they enlist to try and sell it. They’re quickly drawn into a seedy underbelly of conspiracy theory and counter-factual belief, where this sword is highly sought after by the wrong people. It’s the kind of quirky, unique movie that we all lament doesn’t get made anymore, we never hear about, and passes with critical applause but without enough buzz to get a big audience. You should change that last part, this one’s good: it’s currently rated 93% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
Sword of Trust opens Tuesday, August 20, and plays at 7:30 Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.
