Having watched his father go through divorce after 65 years of marriage, Peter finds himself getting divorced soon afterwards (after 35 years). Booking himself a flight to Tulum in Mexico to recover, he finds out that he’s accidentally overlapped with his son’s bachelor party — and they’re staying at the same resort. The film becomes a comedy-drama about what it means to be in a committed relationship, the various relationships between a father and his sons, and what it really means to be a man in today’s society. It’s not fast-paced, not harsh, and not hard — just sweet, funny, a little biting, and with a warm view of male relationships.

“Pritzker navigates his compassionate tale empathetically, portraying a refreshingly kind, gentle, and soft side of masculinity through a group of characters all stuck inside a crossroads life has thrown at them.” -Tomris Laffly, RogerEbert.com
“Even if the film’s wisdom is not earth-shattering, it radiates a kind of paternal salve that lives up to Peter’s best intentions.” -Nicholas Rapold, New York Times
“The characters stay with you long after the film ends. The editing was masterful – kept the pace going when the script wandered. Pritzker elicited strong, natural performances from the actors.” -Julia Swift, My Champlain Valley
“The biggest takeaway from watching Ex-Husbands is the surprise one gets. It’s a slow start and one that promises a much more mundane exercise but soon reveals a more complicated portrait.” -Josh Parham, Next Best Picture
“With three magnificent actors at the helm, the film enters the twilight hour with the comic bite of good cinema.” -Javier Ocaña, El Pais (Spain)
“The film is full of little moments that speak clearly to the particularities of father-son bonds.” -Ross McIndoe, Slant Magazine

Ex-Husbands opens at The Clyde on Friday, March 21, and plays Friday, Saturday & Monday at 7:30, plus Sunday at 2:00.
